Website Parameters

As an Accredited member of the National Home Watch Association (NHWA), you are required to have a website with the following:

Required to be placed on your website in an inconspicuous place on your HOME WATCH page:

1. The NHWA’s Home Watch Definition should be displayed in a conspicuous area of your company’s website as follows, verbatim:

“Home Watch is defined as a visual inspection of a home or property,

looking for obvious issues.”

2. The attached snippet that says “The NHWA Accredits Home Watch Services Only.”

3. The attached Preliminary Accredited Member Logo that will be replaced with the official Accredited Member logo once you are fully Accredited.

Recommended: Please review your site and follow these guidelines to protect you from unnecessary liability:

  •  Avoid the use of words like ensure or guarantee. Use words like verify, establish or maintain in their place.

  •  Avoid using the word Supervision and use Monitoring. “Supervision” = more liability.

  • Explanation of what Accreditation means on your website. A homeowner most likely will not understand the benefits of a home watch company without a clear explanation.

  •  Be sure to include each area that you service by naming the

community/neighborhood(s), town(s), county(ies), etc. that you service for clarity of the reader and for SEO. When people search they are most likely entering “Home Watch in Tampa, Florida” and this will help Google find your company.

  • Every website should have a photo of the principals and/or team and a biography

of the principals.

  • Do not offer monthly house inspections. Weekly or bi-weekly are suggested. We also do not recommend putting pricing on your website.

  •  Don’t forget to add how you prepare for weather related issues specific to your

area such as hurricanes, flooding, snow, etc.
